There are plenty of games where you get time to discuss the perfect plan. Space Alert gives your spaceship crew ten minutes and a rapidly deteriorating situation instead. Threats approach, systems need attention, and somebody probably forgot to charge the cannon.

Programme first, discover the consequences later

The crew listens to a timed mission soundtrack or uses the available scenario alternatives, then programmes actions to deal with incoming threats. What looks sensible from your own station might turn into disaster when another crew member moves at the wrong moment. Only afterwards does the group resolve its planned actions and see whether the ship survives.
