Tzolk’in: The Mayan Calendar Strategy Board Game
R999,00
Time really does move on in Tzolk’in. Place workers on turning gears, then decide how long you can afford to leave them there.
Description
In most worker-placement games, you choose a space and collect its reward. Tzolk’in: The Mayan Calendar adds a wonderfully awkward twist: the board’s interlocking gears move your workers forward as the rounds pass. The best rewards often require patience, and patience can be expensive.
Leave a worker or bring them home?
Taking a worker back gives you the benefit of its current position, but leaving it on the gear may lead to a stronger action later. Meanwhile your people still need food, your rivals are pursuing their own plans and useful spaces are never guaranteed to remain available.
Why the gears matter
Those moving pieces are not decoration. They turn timing into the centre of the game. A good round feels like a plan falling into place across several different clocks; a bad round makes you wish you had collected that worker earlier.
Best for: strategy players who enjoy careful timing, resource management and games that reward thinking several rounds ahead.
